I'm In Vacation Mode

I'm still in vacation/holiday mode here. My husband is home all this week and so the days have been relaxing and lazy. We're trying to have fun this week yet get things around the house done...that need to be done. I feel like I'm doing the bare mimimum on my diet blog, but I'm so glad I have it. It's when you don't feel like dieting that you know you need to keep an extra sharp watch on what you're doing.

I gained back the two pounds that I first lost, then gained and then lost ....and now have gained again. Follow that? I'm annoyed with myself and I can see where the extra weight went. I really, really would like to get in a leg work-out tomorrow with my husband. I haven't lifted any weights on my legs in three weeks because of trying to stay off my knee. But, I think it may be ready for some weight lifting activity.

Also, I didn't run today, but I also didn't swim...so maybe I will do one of those things tomorrow.

And, yes, folks, I did run pain-free last Friday. I had this awesome post all written up for you and then I ran into some technical difficulties...but I still may try and post it even though it's old...cause you see I was just so excited to be able to run.

There is a race scheduled for January 9, that I may try to race. We'll see as it gets closer.

I also feel like I'm doing more maintaining around here than actual losing. But I suppose part of that was from my derailment from my knee...I definitely did lose some momentum there. This week I need to watch my p's and q's so that I can get back on the losing track.

How is everyone else doing? How was your Christmas?

  1. Maintaining sounds like a good idea. Sunshine Mama, you look great! You have lost a lot! Don't stress about losing, gaining, losing, gaining. One day, on step at a time. You have very good reachable goals each day like not snacking. I think a lot of people (myself included) forget to have daily goals, but instead say something like I want to lose 10 pounds by this date.

At my new job, they suggest keeping a little note around of your daily goals. I write mine on a post it every morning and then put it to the side of my desk where I can see it all day. It actually really motivates me.

Great job keeping up with the diet blog when you don't want to. Don't forget you can have some fun too. Looks like you won't forget judging from Our Darling Kids! Love it.

  2. Maintaining over the Christmas holiday is the equivalent of losing in my books! Now, you're going to kick into high gear and reach goal soon! How exciting to be so think that you see where 2 pounds goes on your body.

  3. You may have written this somewhere, but what is your long-term goal? You look great right now...how much more do you want to lose? Curious minds want to know. =)

I think it is one of the hardest things for an athlete to suffer an injury. It's no longer about pushing through the pain, enduring, reaching a new max, psyching yourself up for the next hard workout. Because when an injury happens, your MIND is ready and willing and able, but your body needs some TLC. It's hard!

My husband has a race on January 9th that he already signed up for - he runs 2-6 miles 5x a week. Well, he went hiking with the kids this weekend, fell on the icy stairs, and hurt his back. He is SO SO SO bummed. Doctors say no running for 2 weeks. That is brutal when you already feel like you're on the edge of slipping back to your old couch potato self...it's always a battle.

So anyway, I hear you and it's been really inspiring for me, truly, to see you work through this and keep on going/trying. I know I'm going to be in your shoes some day for one reason or another, and I'll probably be needing to read back on your blog to see how you did it. =) Keep up the good work!
