Today's challenge: My tongue hurts, I'm feeling in a good grove otherwise.
Actual fitness: 6 mile run
Note on no sweet-n-low and less caffeine: So, I broke down last night and had half a cup of coffee (my second for the day when I'm suppose to be at one this week) I had some really aweful stomach upset during the 800s last night. I did it on a treadmill so I could use the restroom inbetween. So, now it's making me wonder if I'm just timing my runs when my stomach is digesting food. But still, the stomach upset happens enough that it can't completely be that.
Note on picture: Since I'm weaning myself from coffee, I'm picked this up at the store last night. I could add coffee creamer and sugar to it; it's hot and perhaps will make the transition easier.
Ok, I'll Admit It...
My tongue has been hurting like heck ALL WEEK long. I don't want to get into the gory details for all the world to know, but I accidentally bit my tongue last weekend. When you do that, your tongue basically forms canker sores to heal the area that was injured.
The last two days have been especially aweful because unless my tongue sits perfectly still in my mouth, it will hurt. If I try to say something to you, it hurts.
You'd think that would dampen my eating...and it has some...especially crunchy stuff like crackers. And, then, the sores are at the tip of my tongue, so I can't really taste any of the sweet stuff. I mean I do...sort of. If I push it to the side.
The other night, I was half considering staying home from the gym...because of my tongue. But how silly does that sound? "Yah, well, my tongue was hurting so I couldn't work the rest of my body."
Besides it was probably better for me to work out and try to get my mind off my tongue than to stay at home dwelling on it.
Also, sometimes what will happen, is that I will move my tongue in the wrong direction and scrape it on my teeth. And that white open, exposed area is really like an open wound in your mouth. So, anyway, I scrape that accidentally against my teeth and it's like "God, help me!" I'm going to crumple up in a little ball and cry my eyes out, but mom's aren't suppose to do that in front of their children, right?
Then, I keep imagining I'm feeling some tooth pain too. Remember the tooth pain?
I even start trying to decide what is worse, this canker sore tongue pain or a tooth ache?
I don't know, but sorry to dump load on everyone. I feel slightly better now. And quite honestly, I do think today is going to better as far as the tongue pain goes.
Oh, on a very, very very positive note, I lost another few pounds today. My scale has been taking away, then giving back and it's taking away this morning. But as for right now, today, I've lost seven pounds in 6 1/2 weeks. My weight hasn't been this low since college...about 15 years ago. And I'm only five pounds away from my goal weight.
I really need to get my act together and take a picture of that chocolate covered creme filled bismark that I'm going to have in about five weeks!!
It's Friday!!! Happy Friday, y'all!

Happy Friday! Way to go on the weight loss today! Way to work it. Terrible news about your tongues. Sounds pretty darn painful. Hopefully each day it gets a little better. Hang in there and way to still get that work out in!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weight loss & ouch on the tongue.
ReplyDeleteThe tongue is horrible for sores! How do you not move your tongue? Ack!
Mmmmm I love chai lattes so I bet tea is pretty darned good. I usually drink lemon tea but I might have to try the chai next time I'm at the store.
Hope you figure out the tummy problem. I wondered the same thing about timing - perhaps your body takes long (or goes faster) than you think for digestion? Have you changed anything in your diet since this started happening? Added fiber or something else that could cause tummy trouble?
Hope it all gets better soon!
Lynn
Great loss! I hate a sore tongue, or a split at the end of my finger! I hope you're feeling better and that it heals quickly. Can you gargle with something to help?
ReplyDeletehope you figure out these stomach issues. it is no fun to have to run to the bathroom (or just feel like even). i have had 'phases' where i seem to have to use the restroom on EVERY RUN for a couple months and then it clears up and i'm ok for awhile til it comes back.
