Today's challenge: staying hydrated and on my calories

Planned fitness: five mile run, my abdominal routine twice today.

Note on picture: I had french toast yesterday. 3 slices of Natural Ovens Bakery bread Weight Sense:150 calories, approximate 1.25 eggs on bread:100, 2 tsp of Smart Balance light butter:30, 1 tbl of syrup:50, for a total of 330 calories. I could have probably gotten by with just two slices of french toast, which would have put this in the 250 calorie range. Not bad on calories and pretty tasty.

Date With A Dressing Room

I've been feeling pretty snazzy lately, thanks to this most recent weight loss. Fif-teen-pounds-baby!!

Can you say, "High five!! We're kicking butt!"

So I've added a little wiggle to my walk
A little swagger in my step
A twinkle in my eye
And some 'tude'
In my 'dude'

But, really, I'm thinking I'm starting to rip it up a little. So much so, that I think I may just need my bubble burst. Because... this is when you have to be careful about watching your calories. Because if you think you already look good, you may feel less inclined to stick like-glue to your diet. Right?

Well, yesterday I stumbled upon the perfect strategy to combat that pitfall.

Make a date with the dressing room.

Yes, the one in the store. The one that has three mirrors so that you can see the eastern, western and southern sides of your body.

It will work perfectly like a shiny little compass to point you back in the right direction. The direction that takes you right out of that dressing room and back into your gym clothes for another round of stairmaster.

I was clothes shopping with my daughter today for school, and made the mistake of trying something on myself.

Man, talk about an ego deflator...every bulge, and every bump is magnified under the lights and mirror of that dressing room stall.

So, now I'm refocused, and ready to attack those next five pounds with vigor. I'm not done yet.

On a positive note, I looked a lot better than my last date with the dressing room.

  1. Yeah, one mirror may give us a false sense of self, but that dressing room prism will throw a bucket of cold water all over us.

    Well, whatever motivates you...

  2. Oh boy, you are preaching the truth. I have been feeling good, looking good, not worrying about eating a few chips here or there while making Greg a lunch. BUT! One dress fitting with mirrors all over the place and someone telling you "suck it in" when you already are "sucking it in" and I had my Nikes on faster than I can make a cake disappear. Haha.

You don't have much left to go and you have been so dedicated. I can not wait to get to the finish line with you. Thanks for sharing all of this each day. It can't be easy to put it all out there - but you have shared a lot of nutrition help.

  3. ugh the dressing room. that is why i have not bought clothes in years. i refuse to be told i have to buy a bigger size (i swear the companies just put the tags in smaller clothes). anddd i hate how everything looks pretty much - all this running and i am still flabby, grr.

anyway, congrats on 15 lbs!! glad you are keeping your feet on the earth and driving it home for the last 5.

  4. ACK! Dressing room mirrors are right up there with taking photos from all sides. ;)

Amazing that they tend to make the lighting so harsh in dressing rooms & yet we still buy clothes. I guess the idea is if we look good in the dressing room we are going to look astounding in 'real life'. lol

Good luck with those last 5lbs. You can do it!
    Keep that swagger going.
