KFC Potatoes And Gravy...And Polygamy

Hi everyone!

Sorry I was gone for a bit. I got wrapped up some in nightly reading adventures and also my computer was acting up last night. Actually...it was the mouse that wasn't properly connected...probably one of the kids.

Anyways...my profuse apologies!

I decided to post a few pictures of Kentucky Fried Chicken's mashed potatoes and gravy for SunshineMeg since she loves them so much. When I was posting FFF's pictures, I did consider talking about the mashed potatoes, but when I was a kid...I did NOT like gravy of any variation. I only liked butter on my mashed potatoes...And KFC's mashed potatoes were "ok" in my humble teen aged opinion.

Now...however, I have grown to enjoy the merits of tasty home made gravy and will actually put some on my mashed potatoes if it available. Though, I won't make gravy. I do believe there is an art to it and I just haven't put the effort into mastering it.

I did enjoy all of your comments about fantasy food Friday. I was amused with Lindsey's comment that she refused to eat chicken "on a bone". I suppose I could understand being squeamish about that. Sarah mentioned Popeye's fried chicken. The name sounds familiar. But I don't think there is one in this area.

Anyway...on to where I've been the last few days.

I debated whether or not I wanted to mention the exact nature of what I have been reading about these days and decided..."why not"... that I'm probably not the only one who questions or is curious about the subject of polygamy. Polygamy as a religious belief for the fundamentalist Mormons to be exact.

The whole fact finding mission was sparked by a conversation with a good friend of ours who moved to Idaho with his wife about a year ago. He mentioned how he had talked to one gal who had been married as a Mormon and had endured a strange ritualistic wedding that involved some inappropriate-ness by male leaders during the ceremony. First, I googled for information about Mormon wedding traditions and then, decided to just check out several books from the library.

Although, I still haven't found anything about the weddings that match what happened to this gal, I've read some pretty unbelievable eye-opening stuff. Stuff that you can't even believe is happening in America. Also I'm learning a lot about the history of Utah and the Mormon church.
It makes me very, very glad to be living in monogamy.

Ok...so besides all that, I'm still working out. I worked on my back and biceps tonight. I did my leg work-out yesterday and am even increasing some of my weights which is interesting. I signed up to start a "Mom's in Motion" class next week, which is for pregnant mothers to work out doing aerobics. I'm looking forward to that.

My eating is doing fine. I'm pretty much maintaining my current weight. A lot of people don't think I look pregnant...but I'm ok with that. After all, I do have over five months left. That's a lot of time left for me to "get big" so to speak.

Since I've literally barely looked at the computer in three or four days, I'm miserably behind on on everyone. But I hope the spring weather is treating you all well, and you are meeting your goals.

Sincerely,
Sunshine Mama

  1. Mouth watering!!! Thank you for those pictures for me. Now I have a craving! I used to eat that in college all of the time. I would hate to think of the salt content now. KFC really is amazing though = )

I too read a book about Polygamy. I can't for the life of me remember the name. My grandma gave it to me and it was shocking. It was written by a women who had lived that life style and some of the struggles she had personally gone through. It is very interesting and heart wrenching at the same time. If I remember the name of it, I'll pass it along to you. Let us know what else you find out.

Glad to hear you are doing well. Don't worry about being behind. Just keep taking care of yourself and that peanut! Have a great day.

  6. You have no idea who I am but I follow your blog. You are very inspiring! I always want to comment but I never do. This time I will. I am a "Mormon" (That is not the real name of the church. It is just a nickname that has been given to us) and I promise I am not weird. You can't believe everything people tell you. I am curious as to where the the ritualistic wedding was held? I appreciate that you stated fundamentalist Mormon. Though, I am sure not many people understand the difference between fundamentalist Mormon and Mormon.

If you want more resources you can ask me :)

  7. Just for you next time I go to Popeye's I will take pictures. Maybe that is what we will have for dinner tonight!!!

I watched something on TLC about Polgamy. I find this stuff oddly interesting. Well I am sure that interesting is not the word so I hope you understand what I am trying to say. It just amazes me what people think is OK and the way to go.
