Today's challenge: Keeping 0n-calorie. Getting final weight lifting work-out in.

Planned fitness: 50 minute chest and tricep workout, 2 mile run, my abdominal routine once.

Note on Picture: Was low on strawberries and picked up a quart. Minus the plastic wrap, this is how the local store sells these strawberries. They have this big, red, overflowing delicious look about them. How can you not buy these when they look like this?

The Monkey At My House

About two weeks ago, a monkey came to our house.

And no, I'm not referring to one of our children, though, they can definitely act like monkeys.

But this monkey's visit has been very interesting. At first I thought his visit would be short. So, I was nice to him. I invited him in...I let him sit down and relax. I let the kids play with him.

He began to become a part of the family. Wherever we went, he went. If we went to the grocery store, he liked to come with and help pick out the food. If we went to church, he would sit in the pew next to us...or wander around as our family likes to do.

But this monkey took a special interest in me.

At first I was flattered. I would think, "He wants to hang out with me because he likes me. He likes me because I just lost 20 pounds and I'm looking good."

When I eat, he sits down next to me and eats too. He likes to eat. In fact, he eats a lot. And since I'm on a diet, he eats a lot more than I do in comparison. Now that I think of it, I think this monkey is gaining weight with all this extra eating that he's doing.

But me, I'm losing weight because I'm eating right. I'm exercising by running almost everyday. I weight lift four times a week. I'm doing everything right. So, I just know I'm losing weight.

I even stayed on-calorie and did a two hour work-out the day of my eight-year wedding anniversary.

But the scale won't show it...because every time I step on the scale, that monkey jumps on my back. And all that extra weight that he's gained offsets my weight loss, and makes it look like I haven't lost any weight.

Well, enough of that monkey on my back!

I don't like him anymore, and I don't want him around.

He's getting the boot.

Would you all like to help me kick him to the curb?

  1. I taught my monkey to do tricks, like rake leaves and go fetch the remote control. He may always be there on your back; might as well make him useful.

  2. Bub-bye Monkey!

You may look cute but we know you're really a dirty little poop thrower. ;)

Hope he runs back to the zoo soon so you start seeing the results you deserve.

You do measurements, right? I bet your inches are less!

    Have a good weekend,
    Lynn
