Today's challenge: Not snacking and hydration

Actual fitness: 50 minute leg work-out, 1 1/2 mile run,

Note on picture: Don't eat these. They have been tempting me lately. These are Hanover Snyder Garlic bread pretzel pieces at 140 calories per ounce.

Food That Speaks

The food in our house has been talking to me lately. We've been having very racy conversations...like back in the times of the Garden of Eden.

"Just take one bite, nothing bad will happen to you."

"Well, one bite won't, but I'm afraid I won't stop at one."

"You can stop. Just try it."

So, I unwrap the package of Hanover Snyder Garlic bread pieces, and slide my hand inside to grab...hmmm...should I get the large chunk or a tiny chunk.. well, I've been working out, eating right...so, I really deserve the larger chunk....then, if I grab the larger chunk I won't have to grab two or three smaller pieces...So, I grab the larger chunk.

Put it in my mouth and taste a small piece, (well, a larger chunk) of heaven. Ahh...

"See, now that wasn't so bad. Nothing bad happened. Plus it tasted good."

-Fast forward one hour later.-

"How about another bite? Remember how you say bites don't count? And you can pick a smaller chunk this time."

Hmmmm...yes, so I've been tempted with salty things lately, folks. Maybe it's all this rain we've had around here. There has been one sunny day, three rainy days, and two overcast days which includes today.

Do sunny-less days mean I'm going to eat more? That sure doesn't bode well for the winter.

Iron, folks! I need some iron-will in my diet. Then, I'll be able to kick these next two pounds to the curb.

  1. That is a great title for this post. I have treats that speak to me too. Just last night, the hunk of cheddar cheese was calling me. I was able to ignore it, but then Greg's Cool Ranch Doritos stared calling. (which is strange because I don't even like those..?)I ended uo settling for a Laughing Cow edge (35) and 6 reduced fat Townhouse crackers (60)

Good luck kicking those two pounds. And happy weekend to you and your fam!

  2. I think you're right about the iron. When I had serious peanut butter cravings while living in Bangladesh, the UK Dr. serving the expatriate community told me it was lack of red meat. Maybe you don't eat red meat, but iron, of course can be found from other sources. I craved red meat for the first full year of being home. Bangladesh is more of a chicken and fish place...curried to death of course! I thought the peanut butter/iron connection was interesting.

  4. How bizarre -- I've been craving salty food, so much so, I broke down and bought a Healthy Choice Salisbury Steak dinner for lunch --- ummm not that great. The only plus is that it can absorb a lot of salt :-)

i cannot do "just one bite/piece". it is all or nothing for me. as soon as i have one bite, i have vacuumed it up already. sigh.
