Join Me For Another 10 Weeks! This is the first week of ten weeks starting October 22, 2012

Hi folks! I'm at it again. I'm going for another 20 pound loss in ten weeks. I've recently had another baby, a little girl, she is now five months old and I'm ready to drop some weight.

My Cravings Led Me To This...

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great Monday.
I thought you all might enjoy some photos of my latest healthy craving. Remember me talking about wanting to eat some figs? Now, I've eaten dried figs and fig bars, but I've never ever eaten a fig before it was dried.

You know...like in its natural fruit form?

Heck, I've never even seen one before I became introduced to these black figs. But curiosity got the best of me and I bought some (for way to much money).
So, they don't look like the most appealing fruit out there.
But the store clerk shared tales with me about how wonderfully, sweet they taste.

This lone fig weighed in at half an ounce, which according to my google research makes this fig worth about 15 calories.
But, really, the question you've all been asking yourselves?
What the heck does it look like inside?

It looks way different than dried figs look.
My husband was totally grossed out.
My 15-year-old daughter ate it and didn't seem to mind.
My eight-year-old son took one bite and gave it back.
Me?
It wasn't too bad when you took your first few bites, definitely sweet, but it did have a strange after taste. I think it might have been the outer layer that made the after taste odd.
But it wasn't an after taste that completely turned me off.

So, my verdict?

Well, it was expensive enough that the taste wasn't worth the price.
I'll probably end up getting dried figs next time because that's the taste I think of when I think of eating a fig.

Other than that, I continue to get tired out when walking around places like I did today at a local park. Then I have to sit. I know it's because of it being the last stages of pregnancy. However, I feel very happy with how I'm looking and feeling. I appreciated all your kind comments yesterday about how I'm looking. I know I'm definitely feeling way better than I have in all of my other pregnancies at this point in the pregnancy.
I'm still counting calories...seven weeks completed...three more to go.
I plan on getting to the gym tomorrow night.
I also see a midwife Tuesday morning.

Hope you all have a good one!

Sincerely,
Sunshine Mama

  1. I'm with you on the figs - I love them dried, but not so much fresh. My hiking friend has a huge tree in her yard and they dry a year's supply just from that tree. She keeps me supplied!

Loved the pictures-you do look absolutely wonderful! Will be interested in how the meeting with the midwife goes!

  2. You know what? I don't think I've ever had a fig? Does a Fig Newton count = )I would probably like the dried ones. The inside of that fruit was not what I was expecting! We are on a tight budget right now with all these weddings and trips home, I think I'll stick with my orchard apples and bananas!

And I dropped a little bday note in the mail to you today!

  3. I have never had a fig of any kind and after reading this I think I will skip out on that fruit all together. I am not one for dried fruit anyways.

  4. Oh Lord have mercy... figgy lovin' over here too!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE em too!! Way to go runnin' to REAL sugars as opposed to the fake guys.. lol! I love how when you eat a piece of fruit, how it truely satisfies the craving and leaves you satiated....as opposed to leaving you wanting more and more.
