Finally a weekend that I'm not too busy to blog. I hope you're all doing well today and have some nice weather to enjoy.
It was a beautiful day here and I stayed on track with day six of my Operation Grapefruit Oatmeal Challenge, which is where I eat grapefruit or oatmeal instead of some other sugary or processed food when I get a craving.
I don't know about you, but for some reason, food always looks better when it's photographed in natural light. This is this morning's oatmeal topped with walnuts.
Then, of course, there is my wonderful grapefruit, which tasted so juicy and sweet.
I toasted it up until it was crispy on the outside and spread some natural peanut butter on it and had it for my mid-morning snack.
Soo yummy!!
Soo yummy!!
I really like using chocolate protein powder in these waffles, so I'm going to have to pick some up. I used vanilla protein powder in this little batch.
Fast forward to tonight...
Fast forward to tonight...
garlic salt, paprika, parsley flakes and imitation bacon bits.
Next time I make this, I'd like to cook up some turkey bacon...get it extra crispy and use that...
then maybe some onion flakes...I'll have to peruse the spice aisle.
This was sooo good though.
(though, I think that might count as a processed food.
Maybe I need to figure out how to make my own dipping sauces.)
I think I had too many potato wedges, but that's alright because they were a good source of energy for my 3 mile run that I did tonight.
-------------------------------------------
It was a good work-out day.
Besides the run, I did get in some push-ups: nine sets of 24,24, 32, 32, 24, 24, 20,20, and 60 for a total of 260 push-ups. That last set really wore me out. I had to push to get the last five or six push-ups to 60.
Then, a few hours later I made it to the gym to complete a 35 to 40 minute chest and triceps work-out.

It was a nice really lazy day. This was the day that I had talked about doing a 5K race.
I decided not to do it because it would have cost $25 and that just didn't seem worth it when I really haven't been seriously training. I do plan on watching my brother finish his half marathon race tomorrow morning. Maybe he'll even let me post a picture of him. Maybe not. Ha. Ha.
Well, I hope everyone has a great Sunday!
Talk Later!
Sincerely,
Sunshine Mama
KETCHUP HAS HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP!!!! it's def a processed food.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness...why do I read your posts on an empty stomach...I better get some breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that you had a minimal amount of ketchup...don't sweat it.
Sure, you can make your own too...there are recipes on the interweb for it.
Not all ketchup has HFCS in it... you can buy it without, so maybe you already did that... but I am sure you could make your own. Got to be a recipe out there!
ReplyDeleteSo so celebrating an amazing week, SM!! Elated and excited for Day 6! Wooooo HOOOO!!!!
big hugs, and a high five, chicka!
Ketchup always gets me! I love it, Sunshine Mama. I like a lot of it. I know it's high is sugar, I know I should try something else, but I just haven't been able to help myself. Your food pictures look amazing. Those potatoes were calling me name! You workout sounds good too. I had a great run today and did a few arms, but I had a football game to top it off, so I had to save some energy. If you come up with an alternative to ketchup - that tastes like ketchup - please help a girl out!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good rest of the weekend. I need to go read Fantasy Food Friday! Can't wait = )
YUM! Look at those eats! :) Great job! I'm still struggling with the sugar, but one step at a time! Say, can you get me your protein waffle recipe? Sounds great! :) I am in love with grapefruit now too! Thanks, SM! :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and keep up the great work! :)
