Join Me For Another 10 Weeks! This is the first week of ten weeks starting October 22, 2012

Hi folks! I'm at it again. I'm going for another 20 pound loss in ten weeks. I've recently had another baby, a little girl, she is now five months old and I'm ready to drop some weight.

An Affliction Of Immoderation

Hi everyone!

I'm posting early because my computer has been acting up and I don't know if it will work tonight.

It's occurred to me....It's been brought to my attention that I am afflicted with immoderation. I've tried the whole being balanced thing for the past four or five days and it doesn't work.

It's the same thing that got me over weight in the first place. I don't want to stop at just one bowl of ice cream (I had two today)...or one bowl of cereal (three?)...

I tend to be immoderate in my eating...when I don't pay careful attention to it.

So... even while I was enjoying the food I ate this weekend...I was later, then, not enjoying the effects of what I ate. And I think it's pretty clear to everyone which scenario I prefer...

I prefer to enjoy the effects of healthy eating over the effects of enjoying unhealthy eating. Follow that?

But don't feel bad for me that I can't seem to eat in moderation. I still manage to succeed in eating healthy and being healthy. In fact, some might think I go a little overboard in those areas.

But I guess I would prefer to call it being focused. When you spot light or focus on one area in your life...you will tend to succeed in that area because you are harnessing your available energy and focusing it on that area.

So, I suppose I could focus on eating moderately? Ha! That would probably require needing to read that book that Dawn talks about, "A women of moderation".

Well, I have a little plan for tomorrow. I've created my own challenge, which I will talk about tomorrow.

I've noticed lately how there are so many challenges people do like Amy is doing the "sugar shock challenge." I've heard about the 30 day challenge to...I'm not sure what...But I think you all have heard about these different challenges.

Hey, I'm doing the push-ups challenge...Ahem...exuse me I have to correct that...

I succeeded in doing the 100 consecutive push-ups challenge...while pregnant I might add.

(sorry, had to get that in)...

But I have a fun little challenge that I made up all on my own to help jump start Sunshine Mama's re-entry into a sugarless, white flour-less diet.

I also think I may just compete in a 5K next weekend. I'm going to shake a leg tonight and see how a three mile run feels. With my last pregnancy, I was able to run up until 18 weeks along. So, if that holds true with this pregnancy, I still have four more weeks that I could run.

I hope you're all doing well!

Sincerely,
Sunshine Mama

  1. Immoderation...ah...now my life has a name! I'm a man of extremes...active vs. couch potato, nibbler versus binger, etc. Right down the middle? Not moi either.

I've only been somewhat successful eating because of two factors:

    1) I don't cook any portions larger than I should eat.

    2) I package extras/leftovers immediately and in two serving increments (for my wife of course!).

While we haven't had ice cream in the house since January...I usually stick to single serving items instead of a something to dish into the bowl.

I know my weaknesses and I know my strengths...I just try and setup things to minimize one and maximize the other.

    You'll do the same!

  2. You amaze me! 5K in your condition! You are the bomb lady!

Maybe some people cannot live in moderation and have to follow rules. There's no "right" way b/c we all have different personalities and quirks. When I follow a regime to strictly, I tend to fall off and on, so moderation is helping me break that cycle.

Whatever you're doing is right on the money for you, because you are one HOT SUNSHINE MAMA!!!!

  3. I've been struggling with the eating of sweets! ARG. My exercise hasn't been the greatest either. Well, I guess I'm just struggling all the way around! LOL! Great job with your pushup competition and beating the bro! :) I did the first night of the "30 Day Shred" DVD tonight...sheesh...I did it, but ouch! :)

  4. My theory is if I don't have it in the house then I am good to go! I can't wait to see what you are going to do. I need a jump start. Only you know what works for you.. Keep it up! Your the hottest mama I know!

  5. First of all, you are the most awesome pregnant woman I know. I only know 2 right now, but heck I don't think there are many who can do 100 push ups.

Immoderation makes sense to me. You know what works for you and when you do not stick to it, you feel it. A 5k would be great for you. I think it would make you feel like yourself to get out there and compete a bit. Even though you are pregnant, you seem to like some competition. Plus, we all know you will kick some heiny!

I had a thought today. I currently been craving a snack at work. I was thinking I would make homemade trail mix. Grab almonds, dried fruit, cereal, and some other things. It is a work in progress. Any ideas of what I can throw in there? Healthy, of course = )

  6. You would be proud of me, SM! I eeked out (just barely) like 20 girl pushups during the 30 Day Shred DVD tonight! :) I thought of you!

    Blessings!!!

  7. Hey SM & Mommy!! I can do 12 pushups now (just barely as well!)....SM knows that a few short months ago, I could not even do one! 12! OMG!

Anyhoo, immoderation....interesting....it's a name I could adopt for myself as well. I have another word for you "blucky." Blucky is that feeling you described after indulging in immoderate eating.....it can last for days and is just NOT something I enjoy.

I was VERY blucky....until about 2 days ago. Went back to WW meetings (yet again), most important thing is that I started tracking my food intake again AND have recommitted to drinking water. It's incredible how not-so-blucky I feel now (bloated and yucky = blucky - who wants to feel like that?).

    Hugs!
