Join Me For Another 10 Weeks! This is the first week of ten weeks starting October 22, 2012

Hi folks! I'm at it again. I'm going for another 20 pound loss in ten weeks. I've recently had another baby, a little girl, she is now five months old and I'm ready to drop some weight.

"They're Not Steel...They're Soft!"

Happy Easter all!!!
Hope you had a great time with family and friends today. It was pretty quiet in blog land today because of the holiday. Besides going to church...we didn't really do much today as far as a big Easter dinner. We just relaxed at home and then later put on a little Easter egg hunt for the kids.

When I went grocery shopping last night I finally picked up some steel cut oats and made them for breakfast this morning. With the box of oats that I got, you weren't required to soak them over night.

This is what I began with... I got seven cups of water boiling and then mixed in 1 and 3/4 cup of steel cut oats.

After about five minutes of boiling when things began to thicken like this...

I turned it on low and let it simmer for 30 minutes
until it looked like this...

I sprinkled stevia and cinnamon on mine...

Then mixed it up to get this wonderful texture.
When we told our seven year old Dandy Lion that they were steel cut oats...
He said, "They're not steel...they're soft."
I laughed!
Everyone of the kids liked it.
My husband said it was "fine" and that regular oatmeal was fine too.
As expensive as this was...."fine" won't warrant me making it every day
unless I can find it cheaper some where else.
Maybe this would be nice for cooking in the crock pot overnight for Sunday morning or something.
I really liked it, however.
Here are our five children before the Easter egg hunt.

I filled each their baskets ahead of time with the same amount of candy before letting them loose.
Those round tins are double chocolate chip cookies.
To see pictures of the hunt, you can click here.

I didn't eat a single piece of candy,
but I did put together this stash for myself for sometime in the future.
Maybe...Ha, ha.
I made myself a banana and chocolate protein shake after I did some sprints tonight.

It tasted so smooth and creamy.
Loved it!!

Later tonight I scrambled up six egg whites after I did a bunch of push-ups.
WOW...this tasted soo good with Mrs. Dash zesty garlic herb marinade sprinkled over the top of the eggs. I also sprinkled on some Mrs. Dash table blend of herbs.
This had a wonderful zing to it and I loved it.
Why haven't I been eating my eggs like this before?
Wonderful!!!

Push-ups: Today I attempted 100 consecutive push-ups again and actually had my daughter video-tape it. I had to stop at 92.
I did, however, do the most number of push-ups thus far...
I did...38, 38, 45, 45, 38, 38, 34, 34 which is 310 and then 92 for a total of 402 total push-ups.
The most I'd done before that was 394.
Our 102 month wedding anniversary is April 7th.
I would like to accomplish 102 push-ups on video tape for you all to see.
-----------------------------------------------------
Other than that...I'm doing well.
I do need more sleep so, I'm working on trying to get to bed earlier.
Have a nice Monday y'all!
Sincerely,
Sunshine Mama

  2. You are a good Mama! And, after providing such a special day for your kids you didn't even eat any chocolate or sugar!

Tell Daddy Rainmaker that I think he is easy going.

  3. Happy Easter! What an awesome Easter if you were able to do OVER 400 PUSH-UPS!!! I am always impressed around here! You rock! The kids look so cute and ready to go and their baskets look great. Way to not eat any of their candy. I had a bit of candy yesterday and this morning, I sent it all with Greg to work! That way it can't even tempt me here. I (GASP) threw away the leftover cake my mom made. It's nice to have a treat now and again, but I don't need it lingering around messing up my healthy ways.

We found a running trail not far from us yesterday and had a great long run and saw more of the city. It was nice just to be outside and get some fresh air.

Well, have a great day. Hopefully the cheese land has a warm week like we do too!

  4. Looks like a wonderful day... I read the amount of push ups and I am in awe. I have 2 bad wrists that have never healed well enough. I am lucky to do 10 in a row. You truly are an inspiration..

  6. Ya know they sell instant steel oats (which I know sounds strange), but they do. No soaking overnight. It's the British company sounding name and it comes in packets.
