Join Me For Another 10 Weeks! This is the first week of ten weeks starting October 22, 2012

Hi folks! I'm at it again. I'm going for another 20 pound loss in ten weeks. I've recently had another baby, a little girl, she is now five months old and I'm ready to drop some weight.

Giving It All You Got

Hi, folks!

I have time for a little quick post before the library closes at 9 p.m. Thanks for your comments yesterday and the encouragement. Thank you, also, SunshineMeg for you knock, knock joke; that made me smile. My husband reads me your comments from his break at work...so he gets to see what you said too. I really wish I had more time to read everyone's blogs this week; it stinks but soon enough I'll get this resolved.

Just wanted to mention that today was the first day that I did over 200 push-ups. My last set called for 50 push-ups. Two days ago, I could only eke out 43. But I felt strong toward the end and managed to push out 52. I had racked up 150 push-ups over the course of seven sets before that.

Just to give you an idea how tough these push-ups are to do...when I am done with my last set...I will have done as many as I can possibly do. My husband and I will both plop on the floor completely spent after it. What's really weird is my legs will feel shaky even though I didn't really use them. And even though my husband isn't doing as many as I am, he is giving it all he's got.

He has been stuck on the same work-out for three or four days now and his last set called for 33. Two days ago he was only able to crank out around low 20's for that last set. But today he gave it his all and was able to do 32 1/2.

Later on the way home from the gym I said, "That's an interesting place to stop 32 1/2. You couldn't get to 33?"

He's like, "Nope...I was giving it all I had and my arms just weren't going to give any more."

Doing push-ups like this has been giving me an appreciation for the meaning of the words, "Giving it all you got." Each time I go to do these push-ups, it is always a mystery to me how many push-ups I will be able to increase by. Going into my work-out, I do not know what I am capable of until I try. But... every single time I have tried I have improved. I have gotten better and I have surprised myself. But I would never have achieved this level or had found out my abilities unless I had tried first...unless I had pushed with all the effort that was in me...to the point that I lay exhausted on the floor breathless from my effort...

Trying to the point of exhaustion is scary and exhilarating. It makes me realize that pushing myself to the limit is really the only way I'll be able to unleash all the strength that I have in myself.

You will be amazed folks what you can do whether it be dieting or some other goal or endeavor if you give it all you got.

And just like the push-ups. If you don't make it on that try...wait a day or two and try again...you will get better at it.

Well, that it for now. I hope you're all having a good week!

  1. Great post! I am so impressed with the level of fitness and motivation that it must take to do that many push ups. I still have to do "girl" push ups. LOL! You obviously have an incredible amount of strength (physically and mentally) which is probably why I find your blog so inspiring. Keep up the good work!

  2. Can we just press rewind here and go back to the teeny tiny comment about 200 PUSH UPS! Holy smokes! That is definitely giving it all you got. Last night I had a long day at work and was feeling a little down, but I laced up the runners and headed to the treadmill in our gym. (We got another 4 inches of snow last night, so no outside for me) I had one of the best runs of 2010 yet! I just felt like I could keep going for days and days. I think my new Stevie Nicks blasting in the headphones helped the most = ) Hope you and Mr. Sunshine Mama (thanks for reading her our comments) are having a great week. Keep it up.

  5. awesome pushups woman!! it's such a good exhausted feeling, isn't it? i think the legs and core are definitely engaged in pushups if you are doing them right, and especially when you do as many as you are. of course the arms/upper body is more tired, but the legs get some work in too!

hope your computer gets well soon!
