Join Me For Another 10 Weeks! This is the first week of ten weeks starting October 22, 2012

Hi folks! I'm at it again. I'm going for another 20 pound loss in ten weeks. I've recently had another baby, a little girl, she is now five months old and I'm ready to drop some weight.

Today's challenge: well, those skittles were more calories than I thought they'd be.

Actual fitness: 4 mile run. It was pretty cold tonight when I went running. It was -2 below zero with a wind chill of 15 to 22 below zero. I wore three pairs of running slacks, four long inner shirts with two sweatshirts. One of my sweatshirts had a hood so I wore that in addition to my hat. Then I had a scarf securely wrapped around me three times and plus gloves which I ended up shrinking into my sweatshirts to stay warm. I felt like an Eskimo running. I had this thought that with as many clothes as I'm putting on, I should just wear a snowsuit...it's be easier.

About 1 mile into the run I started getting really hot, and plus I felt like I was breathing harder. So, I pulled the scarf down from over my mouth a little which helped. I was wondering if the colder air was making my breathing harder...either that or I've lost some conditioning because of all this time I took off for my knee. No...not that.

Speaking of which, I slipped a little on a patch of ice, but didn't fall. But for most of this run I felt like I was running like I was skiing or something... Wisconsin legs you know...there was a few inches of snow on the sidewalks from some snowfall a few days ago...Plus with being all bundled up I think I ran slower. But altogether it wasn't so bad.

At least I can run...and it doesn't hurt when I do.

Note on photo: This is the main meal I had when I went to that buffet, I ate most all of this except the chicken wing. That cinnamon roll was divine.

  1. Congrats on being able to run. I don't have the kind of weather you have up there and I've still been nervous to walk outside for about a week. We keep getting just a little snow, an inch or less and then it melts during the day and freezes back up at night so in the morning (when I like to walk), everything is icy. That cinnamon roll looks great! :)

  2. I'm so impressed with your determination to overcome the weather conditions.

    Awesome!

p.s. I won't go to buffet restaurants anymore...perhaps not ever again. I can wreck a buffet...seems like I have some gene that says...all you can eat for 9.95? Ok...I will make you regret you only charged 9.95...bwa ha ha ha ha (evil laughter continues while choking down my pile of food).

  3. i definitely have a harder time breathing when my mouth is covered in these cold temps. even just walking around at work (so, not strenuous, but outside and in the cold) i can get out of breath when i zip my jacket up all the way to cover my mouth. anyway, so yeah i think it was just that it was covered up but i don't have any scientific explanation like too much carbon dioxide was being trapped or something, sorry. ;)
