Happy Labor Day everyone!

What's interesting about Labor Day, is that it is a holiday that we take off from work in celebration of being able to work.

So...Happy Being-Able-To-Work-Day folks!

But then I thought, what if ...in this recession where the unemployment rate is almost 10 percent...you can't celebrate being able to work...

That's when I came up with the idea, that maybe we could twist the celebration just a little to... Happy Being-Able-To-Work-Out-Day.

Some people can't work-out. But if you can walk, if you can be mobile, if you can run, or bike ride or hit the gym, let's celebrate that...today.

If you're not working out right now, how about thinking about what you can do to begin a work-out program. One of the easiest places to start with a work-out program is with walking.

Taking a walk during the fall weather is refreshing, and invigorating. Did you know that there have been studies that have shown that if you are faced with a problem that you can't solve, changing your body position and your movement will trigger different thought patterns.

Because our bodies are made to move, our minds think better when we are moving.

So, today, when you're hanging out with family and friends, maybe suggest going for a walk together. Walking and Talking might be another way to connect in ways you haven't before.

Also, taking a walk may give you some good ideas that you can use at work.

Happy Labor Day!

  1. Awesome!

Between your blog and a few others, I'm heading out to WW this morning. They have a special going on (I'm unemployed), but every pound I lose, a pound of food is donated to a food bank. I love the fact that I can help someone else.

Thanks for inspiring me and giving me the courage to take up this challenge.
